The Way to My Heart is Through My Stomach

I had a really lovely day with Colin for Valentines. I think because we don't go on adventures enough, both being quite home birdy, getting on a park and ride to go to have a yummy lunch in preston was extremely refreshing and exciting. There's something about going out together that is so different to being together at home. We have to actually put down our books and phones and studies and cooking and cleaning and just talk. It makes you see each other clearly rather than through the haze of other stuff you've got to do.
We took my Fuji X100 which doesn't get much of a look in sometimes as I tend to want a flash but it's worth getting out as Colin looks good with it round his neck. I'm glad we did because ever since I read an article about restaurants hating on foodie photographers (apparently some go to the lengths of standing on their chair to get the shot) I've decided that discretion is the way forward if I'm determined to show people what I had for lunch.
So here's my lunch, don't be too jealous, it was delicious. It's not my usual cheese and ham toasty or heinz tomato soup instead it's a much more elevated form of soup and toasty - celeriac and pear soup with a parma ham and fig chutney toasty on the side - which actually made me say mmm out loud (another word I can't resist in food "chutney). I'm sure you don't care anywhere near as much as me, Colin didn't, but I was in food heaven.
See, this is colin being far too nonchalant about olives and strong cheeses, we had a platter for crying out loud he should be ecstatic. And not only that we followed it with spanish hot chocolate, I was practically in raptures.

look at it!!
And as you can see this is me in raptures.
I always act like Colin can't take a picture but I think he did good this time.  Maybe it was the contentment with the food that accounts for my looking like I just got handed a plateful of cream but for once I'm ok with a picture of myself. So here's my smug face showing you that not only did I get a delicious lunch with this Irish man I married I got it with %50 off. (grand total for both of us including drinks was £18)
Happy Valentines to me.  (oh and Colin I guess)

  1. I mock you often for your coriander and celeriac, but admittedly, this looks amazing and I do love good food. There are so many restaurants in philly that would blow your mind.

  3. It doesn't zoom which is a pain but it's great quality pictures. I'm still not 100% with it as i don't play with it enough. I'm not sure yet whether I would recommend it. Looks great though ha!
